Shiraz Hosts Third International Multimedia Cultural Heritage Festival: A Platform for Promoting Art, Culture, and History
(UNESCO Report on the Third International Multimedia Festival of Cultural Heritage)
The Third International Multimedia Cultural Heritage Festival was held in Shiraz, the city of knowledge, culture, and history from November 5th to 8th, 2024. This year, the festival got 4,500 submissions. Ninety expert judges spent 20 days evaluating them to find the best.
The festival featured over 25 panels, workshops, and events across Shiraz. It included 100+ film screenings, plays and exhibitions. Celebrated artists from across Iran attended the festival.
Nearly 12,000 children, youth, and future heritage guardians participated in the festival programs. The free admission to museums during the festival also allowed thousands of people, including students and visitors, to explore the cultural and artistic sites and museums of Fars Province.
Festivals like this are invaluable opportunities to promote culture, art, and history. They boost tourism, and the economy, connect cultures, and grow business. They should be viewed as investments in the future.
UNESCO participated in the festival, including the visit of World Heritage Sites, and attended its closing ceremony. It stressed that such festivals are key to sharing, preserving, and passing cultural heritage and traditional crafts to future generations. UNESCO reaffirmed its support for this mission.
